Rod Cookson is a writer who lives in Oxford with his wife.

 

He has won the Opening Lines Competition, been runner-up in the Page 100 Competition and been shortlisted for numerous prizes.

 

Rod's recreations include cheese in all its forms, good crime novels, football, the Beatles, cycling, tennis (real or otherwise), French wine, Italian food, the films of Ingmar Bergman and cats. His antipathies are the motor car, social media, dishonesty in public life, the Daily Mail, craft beer and airports. He is ambivalent about dogs and chocolate.

 

Favourite writers include Raymond Chandler, Anton Chekhov, Arthur Conan Doyle, Edmund Crispin, MR James, Claire Keegan, Elmore Leonard, Daphne du Maurier, Cormac McCarthy, Aaron Sorkin, Rex Stout, Dylan Thomas, Olga Tokarczuk and PG Wodehouse.
